Cooking with Habañero Chile Pods
Habañero chile pods pack a whole lot of punch. They are hotter than jalapeños, so use them in small amounts until you’ve found your preferred spiciness. These peppers are perfect for homemade hot sauce, and make a vibrant, spicy mango salsa!
To reconstitute, soak the chiles in hot water for 15 minutes, or until soft. Slice the tip off and use a spoon to scoop out and discard the seeds. Cut as desired, and use in all your favorite recipes that call for spicy heat. Note: use gloves to protect sensitive skin and avoid touching your eyes.
Here are just a few ideas for making great food with our habañero chile pods:
Soups and stews: and flavor and heat to your soups and stews. You could make a bold, tearjerker chili with just a small amount of reconstituted habañero pepper.
Marinades: add rehydrated habañero chile to your marinade for chicken, beef, or pork (or even vegetables) that kick back with every bite.
Sauces, dips, and salsas: reconstituted habañero chiles go well with sweet salsas made with mango or pineapple. Rehydrate your dried habañeros and use them to make a flavorful hot sauce, or blend into your guacamole for an extra spicy chip dip. Remember, a little goes a long way.
