1/2 lb green peas, shelled
2 large onions
3 medium tomatoes
1 tablespoon ginger paste
2 tablespoon garlic paste
2 teaspoons coriander powder
1 teaspoon cumin powder
2 teaspoon garam masala
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
2 green chillies, finely chopped
6 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 1/2 cup water
salt to taste
3 tablespoon heavy cream
Cilantro to garnish

This recipe, mutter paneer, is an irresistibly creamy, tangy and savory dish of fried cubes of golden cottage cheese added to a rich sauce made from tomato, ginger, onion and garlic pastes. We then fry up some flavorful Indian spices like coriander, cumin, turmeric and garam masala, adding aromatic bliss to the mix. Green chilies add a little bit of heat to balance out the cream, and then soft green peas go in—adding a pop of color, flavor, and…well…a literal pop as they’re bitten into. Top everything with a fresh sprinkle of cilantro and you’ve just made a gourmet treat to share with friends. You will share with friends, won’t you? No judgement here.

Making mutter paneer

Chop the cilantro and set aside for garnish.

Grind the onions into a paste in a food processor and set aside.

Next, grind the tomatoes into a paste in the food processor and set aside.

Peel the garlic and ginger. Slice the ginger and add it to your food processor.

Grind the ginger and then the garlic into a paste and set both aside.

Heat 2 – 3 tablespoons oil in a pan over medium.

Add the paneer and gently stir-fry until golden (about 3 – 4 minutes). Remove from oil.

Measure 2 – 3 tablespoons more oil into the hot pan and then stir in the onion paste. Fry till light brown.

Add the tomato paste, ginger paste and garlic paste.

Fry for 2 minutes, stirring frequently to keep form burning.

Add the following while constantly stirring:
coriander powder
cumin powder
turmeric powder
garam masala powder
green chillies

Stir in the green peas and fry for 2-3 minutes.

Add the paneer, water and salt. Turn your heat down to medium-low and simmer till the gravy thickens.

When your gravy is sufficiently thick (based on your personal preference), stir in the cream.

Garnish with cilantro and serve.
