Spicy Broccoli “Popcorn”

2 cups of broccoli or cauliflower florets
1 cup vegan buttermilk
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon everything without the bagel seasoning
Pinch of salt

This baked broccoli is crunchy and the perfect way to replace popcorn chicken and the best thing about this recipe is that it will take you less than 40 min to make it. With this spicy popcorn broccoli, your guests will be amazed. If you don’t have broccoli, you can replace it with cauliflower. 

Getting started:

  1. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees
  2. Wash and dry the broccoli and then cut into small florets
  3.  In a bowl combine the flour, baking soda,  garlic powder, everything without the bagel seasoning and the salt
  4. Add 2 tablespoons of the vegan buttermilk to the bowl and with your hands make wet crumbles. If you don’t have vegan buttermilk you can make it with 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice, and soy or almond milk
  5. Dip each floret into the remaining vegan buttermilk, then put the broccoli floret into the mix and press the crumbles all over the broccoli
  6. Place all the broccoli florets onto a baking tray sprayed with nonstick spray
  7. Bake them for 10-15 minutes, check every 5, until it’s brown and crispy. Use a spatula to flip the broccoli in the 6th minute.
  8. Serve the vegan broccoli with cayenne pepper sauce

Cayenne Pepper Sauce:

  1. Mix 10 teaspoons of water and white vinegar. Add 4 teaspoons of ground cayenne pepper and store the sauce in an old hot sauce jar.
  2. Enjoy!
